Is there a thread anywhere as to why all of us collect Blu-rays?

Personally, I like knowing that when I look at my collection that these are the definitive versions that are available. Even if the PQ of the video is just slightly better than the DVD, it is still the best. I've recently been comparing Laserdisc versions of the movies I own on Blu-ray and the differences are astounding. I know that is like comparing apples to oranges but it shows that we have come a long way to really enjoying movies the way they were meant to in our own homes. It's coming to the point where I am waiting for movies that I want to watch to be released on BD after they show at the theater because I want to watch the movie with my own setup for the first time...and not the blurry screen and amped up base that we get at the theater.
