Just to help make sure, I ordered 4 more BDs this morning from Amazon, and they're already in the process of shipping.

Trabsformers can't sell more than 25% what it did the first week. Based on paramounts exagerations, it sold half of it's total sales on the first day, leaving the rest of the week with 50%. Now, they're screwed. Plus if it is high, then that means no one bought their other movies.

I'm a lot more optimistic now(but i'll be buying some bds tonight anyways just in case)

Man, I am glad that finally we can put Transformers on the back of our minds and look forward to nothing but some great blu releases from here on out. Here comes Spider-Man trilogy, The rat, Cars, Die Hard, The Simpsons & Superbad. I am so glad to be a BD supporter

I'm with ottscay. The reasons are:

1. Those Disney titles were released months ago. But because of the BOGO effect, PS3 owners - yes, who else would suddenly go out in the 10K numbers - who never bought them before bought one and made a dent on the Nielsen.

2. Those with HD-DVD players who want TF would've already gotten their pre-orders filled. Unlike the PS3-Trojan effect, the Red side doesn't have anything to back them up for the second and third week. Essentially, the guys have spent their load.

3. We got great titles this week, next week and the week following that. It's not going to generate a big 100K numbers (except may for about ten titles) but it will be an on-going marathon-like sale. As we see in the Nielsen's weekly ratings, we almost got beaten, but the YTD and the SI have remain unchanged.

The Q4 belong to BD with a great slew of titles including timed exclusives from New Line. YTD and SI numbers will close favorably. People still gotta buy titles (I know I will) to keep up the fight and their HD enjoyment but we weathered the storm and won. HD-DVD is STILL struggling.

In 6 days, October will end and mark the beginning of a new era for BD, where Profile 1.1 and BD-Live players will be the standard. Next year, BD titles will gain traction in exploiting these advanced capabilities WITH higher bandwidth than HD-DVD. HD-DVD's talking points will be over in 6 days. That's when the BD CEs and studios will have to get nasty in eliminating HD-DVD in 2008.

On the Top Ten list only one title is HD-DVD. Probably the only time this has happened.

Well I have been celebrating, just not for the same reasons....I got 22 BDs last week and am in now in hog heaven! I have been doing nothing lately but watching movies in the format of my choice. And to me, that is what I "won"...the ability to watch more movies in pristine high defintion that I might not have been able to get otherwise had it not been for the sales.

And what's even better is the awesome lineup of BDs in the next few weeks. The Neilsen #s are awesome, don't get me wrong. I'm just more happier about how my collection of BDs exploded (well, for me anyway) last week. I hope I don't sound like a "kill-joy" as I certainly do not mean to.

So please add my gratitude to all that made this possible as this movie-lover could not be smiling more.

Hey guys how does the spiderman trilogy count in neilsen numbers? As a buy for each in the box? as it's own separate entity? if the latter then we'll have the top 4 spots of spiderman, if not we'll definitely have the top 3

Anyone?

The point is that winning, even by 2% is a mortal blow to their morale. Barring incredible disaster, this should mean a clean sweep of 2007
Great call on the intial report of 190K sold. You took some heat for that, but your sources were proven correct. I really do not see anyone else giving us that type of timely information. Thank you BTW Meet the Robinson is selling REALLY WELL at Best Buy. At my closest store they had over 30 copies on tuesday, and it was down to 1 on Thursday. I asked and was informed that they are getting more copies today.

The whole Trilogy on counts for 1. If you don't buy the box set, and just SM3, i counts for 1. So next week expect we will possibly take the top 2 spots with SM. 1. is for the trilogy, 2. is for the individual SM3 movie that is sold seperatley.

I LOVE this ad! Can I get it in poster format?

I seriously think Universal/Weinstein will go neutral next year, they have to get over the denial. Warner will go exclusive I think, numbers will be 2:1 or higher for their titles for the rest of the year.

Seriously, I think everybody in Hollywood has FINALLY come to grips with the PS3 Trojan effect. The BD studios known it before due to the longevity of the sales of Casino Royale and 300. But now EVERYBODY knows that with a good promotion, everybody with a PS3 will go out and get a movie.

How is this realization important? It means Warner, Universal and Paramount have now seen the Blu light, and Warner is probably the closest one to go. Universal is next. Paramount will have to be made to eat crow.
