The only reason I can think of for that is it is a slightly censored version cutting out some of the more graphic battle scenes , falling horses etc.

Stay away from the US theatrical version at 148 minutes.
The US long version is also the 288 minute one , go for that one .

I still prefer my Hong Kong version as it has 7.1 audio. Either way the 288 minute is the ONLY CUT to get.

I would imagine that the 282min. run time that Amazon.ca advertises is probably a misprint as it is not uncommon for websites to get little details like runtime and Audio/Video spec's wrong.
It appears to be share the same cover as the US Long Version, so we should be good. I don't know why they would censor or make a different release for us Canadians.
