I don't believe anyone knows what will win yet. The assumption that blu-ray will win simply because it is the SUPERIOR format is wrong. Beta was clearly superior to VHS, but so-what? Sony screwed up with that format (and a few others along the way), and they lost the format war even though they had the superior technology.

That said, I actually believe they will probably win this one. Yes HD-DVD has been out longer and is cheaper, but the fact is they are both expensive and relatively few units have sold in either format. So blu-ray isn't really that far behind - and as both technologies get cheaper and more popular, blu-ray will probably win out due to it's superior technology and studio support.
