There's a strong chance they'll throw The Social Network into the mix, and I wouldn't be surprised if that ousted both TS3 and Inception. It was a great movie and it's in the style of the Academy's flavour of choice: drama.

I'd actually be surprised if Toy Story 3 gets nominated for best picture, it'll probably pull down best animated and I doubt they'd give it both. Oh and Inception is a drama so it has a shot.

It sure took them long enough to annouce this U.S. release. The U.K. release had been announced about 3 weeks earlier.

So far, to me, this has been a pretty lackluster year for excellent films. I wouldn't be surprised if this was nominated and won the Best Picture. I loved the film, and think it would be great for Nolan and the rest involved with this film to receive that honor. Can't wait until December 7th to rewatch this again.

Sorry if it's been hit upon already, but is the U.S. version going to have that cool briefcase. Thanks

So far I haven't seen anything that indicates the U.S. release will include the briefcase edition. Some are talking about buying the U.K. edition and putting their U.S. BD in it.

If they don't release the briefcase in the US there will be riots!

I don't need a goddamn briefcase to hold a movie disc, which is all I care about.

Inception is the best movie I have seen in a long time and I cannot wait for the blu, but all I care about is the movie and extras I could care less about the briefcase.

Sorry buddy, If they didn't announce one with the BD announcement, UK FR or DE is your best bet.

well the US is horrible about exclusives, most Euro releases don't have them right? so it could be available here, just as an exclusive. Best Buy likes to do gift sets like those masks for 300 and Harry Potter..

I backed off on the U.K. Briefcase. It's a lot of money, and DVD would be region locked and PAL. Yeah, I don't ever watch the DVD probably, but I'm sure I'll have a few who'll want to borrow it.

Plus, we have not seen any retailer exclusives yet. We could still see the briefcase from Best Buy or some other retailer. There were a lot of things like that for the Dark Knight.

It's not winning Best Picture. The sooner you accept it, the less upset you'll be when The Social Network wins.

But yeah, this is the definition of day one. It looked so freakin' good in IMAX. I can't imagine how good it will look in Blu.

Haha totally agree. I've seen people complaining that they may not get the spinning top, idol thing. Seriously? Embarrassing.

The Social Network is overrated. Good film, not the best of the year. Maybe at the bottom of the top 5 for now. I'm sure that will change once True Grit, 127 Hours, The Fighter and Black Swan come out.

Sorry for the thread jack, just tired of seeing all the overpraise for The Social Network.
