I agree the industry needs to move forward, but neither it (nor the audience) should forget where it was. It's like saying now that we have blu-rays, no movie that was made before the blu-ray format was invented should be released on blu-ray.

Imagine not being able to watch any pre-DVD movie on DVD, or worse, no pre-home video movie on anything but a film reel.

It's especially useful in cases like Final Fantasy where the franchise is falling apart in the move to HD, or Metal Gear Solid and God of War, where they were on-going storylines that only ended in the one game that was on the PS3.
