Any semi-technical TV nut knows that broadcast TV is 480i lines of verticle resolution. But I also know that TV supports about 525-540 lines.
This begs the question. Are DVD movies saved as 480 or 525 lines of resolution? And will those extra lines (Roughtly 9-10% more) finally be seen on a HD TV? Or is 480P the best for which I can hope? And yes, I know a few of those lines are used internally to properly align the picture. But I still hope 525P for DVD. Anyone know if this is possible? Technical explanations? Anyone? Anyone?
