Default Virtual copyright protection may woo Hollywood...

Forget for a moment all the other reasons blu-ray is better, and why consumers should flock to it.

Give Hollywood a BETTER reason to flock to it. Copy protection. Yes I know it is improved already. But blu-ray is already in Japan and sure enough SOMEONE is working on cracking it and eventually will.

A 128-256 bit encryption range should work. Hollywood looses millions to pirated DVD's every year. Protect their bread and butter. And they will support blu-ray to protect their own best interest.

VUCP -"Virtual Unbreakable Copy Protection." Let me expalin. In one of my other posts I indicated that the blu-ray players should be flash upgradable to tweak the codecs, etc. Upgrades can be done via phone line, or on-line via cd. "Burn it, flash it, play it."

In the event the copyprotection is broken, modify the copyprotection on the new discs. "This player does not have the proper copy protection to play this disc. Would you like to update now?" Now they have a whole new 128-256 encrytion to break. Do you know how long that takes? FOREVER.

It will not end pirating but will frustrate them. Perhaps to the point of just sticking to DVD. Microsoft constantly updates their software. Blu-ray should be no different. Sony must do it now while there is still time to before market.
