Just got back from Tron and it was amazing. This film doesn't need to be viewed in 3D. While some of the 3D effects worked well, most of the movie I found that I didn't even notice them. As for seeing the original before hand, I have only a basic understanding of the original but it didn't hinder my enjoyment of the movie. While not needed it may help understand the movie more. Overall it was great. Cannot wait to pick this one up on Blu and see it in HD.

And just in retrospect:
Props to the sound FX editor for actually making a SDCC convention room of 200 fans sound like a million cheering game-arena spectators (and massive armies)--

Tron: Legacy
4 out of 5 stars

One night Sam (Hedlund) listens to his father (Bridges) tell him a bedtime story of a fantastical computer world. Then his father disappears and the years pass by. Now an adult, Sam is the primary shareholder in Encom, the company his father founded. But outside of the occasional prank he could care less about the company which no longer resembles what it once was. One day he finds himself at his father's old office and while attempting to access the computer he is sucked into the world of Tron. After all those years he finds himself face to face with his Dad, in the world of his childhood tales....I'm glad I watched the original last night as there were more than a few shout outs to it. And unlike the first one, this is focused as much on the story as on the visuals. Speaking of visuals, Olivia Wilde is beyond good looking in this film. I'm sure she'll be in my fantasies for many nights to come...but I digress. Bottom line, if you're a fan of the original you'll love this update. I don't even know what the reviews are like nor do I care. I just know I loved it because it's freakin Tron man!

He's adorable and awesome at the same time. Wonder when that will be on Blu. I heard there was a Stitch anime and I want to see what it's like but I've had no luck finding it.

I saw it in IMAX 3D last night. The movie is good, but not amazingly great. I'd give the movie four stars of five. The effects are amazing. I love the game scenes as well.

I've been excited for the release, but I was so exhasuted from dealing with finals this week, I kept nodding off at the midnight show. I think I was awake for all the big action scenes, just slept through most of the story. Plan to see it again though.

I've been hoping we get one soon....Cause that is a movie I would love to have on blu The anime isn't very good...I found it online and watched some of it and it's just blah...I don't really recommend it if you wanna keep your fondness of the character in tact

Ok, Thanks Foggy. I was hoping he was in it more than the 'Hey kid, got a message from your dad's old arcade' line in the promo. I like Bruce from Babylon 5 and of course the original Tron so I was hoping he didn't get shafted this time around with all of the new people that the media is focusing on.

best wishes,
Wayland

Ah that's a shame... figured Japan would do him justice but I guess not.

Speaking of cute characters, I was surprised how cute Olivia Wilde was in Tron. Her different look probably helped but she acted so much different than in House. Like everything she did cute.

Just got back from seeing this and im giving it 3 stars, it was nothing special i hate to admit for you lovers out there.. Daft Punks score was also unimpressive and there have been far better and far better this year.. visuals i would give it 5 stars it looked stunning especially the younger version of Jeff Bridges.

IMAX 3D is the only way to see this movie IMO. I found the plot to actually be decent. The effects were incredible, the performances were good, Olivia was sexy as can be, the sound was great. I did feel there wa a little to much exposition in certain spots.

I've heard people were disappointed with the score but I didn't get it. When a scene called for great music it was there but it's not like every scene could be like that. I also loved the parts when Daft Punk was in the club.

It was truly incredible at Imax. I agree that if someone has the opportunity they should see it there.

yea it was cool how they put them in the DJ booth, but the score didnt really help out hte movie all that much.. the main song from the trailer was the only piece i found enjoyable and good for the movie.. other then that it was pretty weak and hyped up.. pretty much because they are "Daft Punk".. i would have rather prefered Deadmau5 or Tiesto

Just came from seeing this. Loved it! I only just saw the first film a few days ago and thought it was an impressive, if dated, science fiction film with a great premise. Tron: Legacy, I felt, was an amazing sci-fi blockbuster with characters I cared about, spectacular fx, a wonderful musical score, and quality acting. One of my favorite movies of the year and I can't wait to own the Blu-ray!

4 out of 5 stars.

I found this film very muddled. The VFX are outstanding, the musical score is great. But the story (the most important part of a movie) was confusing, long-winded, and ultimately boring.

You have to do more than show me flashy visual effects -- you have to make me CARE about the characters in those effects. Sadly I did not.

It's not a terrible movie, but it's not especially great either.

I am confused, people are confused with the story. How? It couldn't have been explained any more.

Based on what? There's a huge difference between dance music, and a film score.
