Well as long as he isn't in there too long, he should be quite unharmed, as long as he survived the freezing process of course.

27th of September is now the confirmed release date for the US, it's a Tuesday so we might be a day early or six days later on the 3rd of October. Which is my brothers birthday (he better not expect these as a present lol).

On Amazon and HMV it says 30th September, which is a Friday.

If I remember correctly they used to release some releaes on a Friday, but that was quite a while ago, so I can't see why they'd start over again now.

I have a feeling that'll change, possibly to the 26th September, since the Alien Anthology came out the same week in the UK and the US and this is a Fox release too, so there is hope we'll get it at the same time as the US.

I can't remember having a Tuesday or Thusday release for ages either TL, then it was a DVD. The last odd day we had was Sunday last year on Boxing Day. It's nice the date for the US is now confirmed it feels more real now.

Does anyone here really expect the 30th September release date to stay, because as has already been pointed out that's a Friday and there hasn't been a Friday release date in ages.

I've just done a bit of searching of various retailers and all are saying the 30th, apart from Tesco who have it at 26th September, which is a Monday and sounds more realistic.

So does anyone else think the 30th September is the actual release date for the UK, or will it change to something like the 26th?

There is surely going to be some fan milking ridicules edition with a limited lightsaber or other collectable getting announced closer to the release date, I'm stupid enough to wait and order the silly edition.

Some how I don't think there will be, because there'll be such a huge demand for this release that I suspect Fox will just release a mass produced copy.

Also, if there was going to be such a release then they'd have annouced it at the same time as the regular version, as it wouldn't make any difference if they announce it now or later, because both will still just be pre-orders and can be cancelled at any point.

I think the three September releases will be the first of many. But I don't think we'll have any LE's in the first run like you said TL.

I've been trying to find the source but someone mentioned that the PT and OT boxsets will have 4 discs and the complete saga will have an extra disc making the 9 we already know about.

I'm a bit on the fence now about buying the complete set straight away I'd like to see whats on the ninth disc.

Not related to the release I found this on the Star Wars Blog.

Quote:
“Earlier today, I found myself perusing the first issue of Future magazine, cover date April 1978,” says Windham. “The issue has a ‘Databank’ feature for ‘News Items from the World of the Present’ on pages 6-7, and includes this entry for Star Wars…”

“In the realm of the Wars, George Lucas has approached all of the original film’s principals, including Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Cushing, Alec Guinness, Dave Prowse, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker. Noted SF author Leigh Brackett has been approached with the task of writing the screenplay for the big-budgeted sequel. One of the key elements in the second script may be the origin of the Dark Lord, Darth Vader. One version of his life being considered for the forthcoming production will reveal a young, handsome Darth turning rogue Jedi, killing Luke Skywalker’s father and being pushed into a pool of molten lava by avenging angel Ben Kenobi. Darth is so badly scarred that he dons his black armor forever. It serves as a combination exoskeleton and walking iron lung. The second version portrays Darth as being, in reality, Luke Skywalker’s father. After a psychological trauma, Luke’s father succumbs to the darker nature of The Force and allows all that is good within him to die. And rising from the ashes of his soul is Darth, the arch-foe of all that is righteous. Whatever Vader’s fate in the as-yet-embryonic script, the film began pre-production in London in January.”

The first scenario mentioned – the one where Vader is pushed into molten lava by Kenobi – was likely lifted from a Rolling Stone interview with George Lucas in 1977. The source for the second scenario – the father one – is uncertain, unless the reporter was within earshot of Prowse’s comments recorded at the October 1977 Horror Elite Convention (and referenced in our original post).

In any case, that cat was out of the bag by April ’78, although it fortunately didn’t get picked up by the mainstream media, allowing the Dark Lord’s identity — as Kenobi says — to remain safely anonymous until 1980.
I also found these Mondo posters.

I have a feeling that two of the discs will be deleted scenes, trailers, etc., one for each trilogy, and that's what'll be in the seperate releases as well as the complete set, and the final disc will be full of doumentaries about the whole saga. Because Fox aren't likely to put the best extras on all 3 releases, as they'd want everyone of go for the whole set.

And that article is very interesting and suprising that it was found out so early that Vader was Luke's father. And the posters are great too

Glad you like the posters Mondo posters are always top-notch. You're probably right about the Saga documentaries been on the ninth disc, I also think that each films disc will be pretty barebones just commentaries and high AV bitrates and maybe some kind of trivia-track. I'm just speculating though and I'm sure the sets contents will be kept under tight wraps for a few more months.

In these big sets the film discs usually are barebones with just a commentary, as you said, and I can't imagine Star Wars will be any different.

I think the extras will probably be announced in late-July to mid-August, because that sounds like it'll be close enough to the release date without giving too much away.

ITV HD are showing Star Wars (IV) A New Hope this Saturday afternoon (3.50). Obviously it won't look as good as the Blu-ray but should give you a taster of the film in HD.
