The way I look at it, tv shows won't benefit from hi-def PQ and sound to the same extent that films will. Therefore, I'm happy to continue buying tv shows on dvd, while leave films for Blu-Ray or HD-DVD. Would Seinfeld be any funnier in hi-def? obviously not. But I can imagine the Matrix films, or Aliens, Lord of the Rings etc looking amazing. Personally I'm looking forward to sports, well football in hi-def, (soccer to the Yanks). When the camara pans out on sd tv broadcasts, the resoltution isn't high enough and the picture looks poor.
Apparantly ESPN will be broadcasting in 1080p60 this year. I would love to see soccer in this resolution. Far better than 575i 50. |
