Greg Grunberg To Headline A&E Pilot

A plus-sized male detective? When in the history of men, has there been one described as plus sized? Everybody knows there are 6 levels of fat men and plus sized is not one of them, see the chart below.

Either way, Greg has turned in some decent work before, A&E has earned some trust with me since the Glades and it looks like they are become the CBS of cable with all their detective shows, let's just hope it's a lot better than what CBS has to offer. Especially since it looks like his other show probably isn't going to make it to air after all. Anyways, here are the details:

Heroes alum Greg Grunberg is heading to cable as the lead of A&E’s hourlong pilot Big Mike.

In the project, co-produced by Happy Madison and Sony Pictures TV, Grunberg will play the title character, a plus-sized detective and a force of nature in the San Diego PD. One of the best in his field, Mike’s greatest challenge in his romantic life.

I hear Grunberg’s casting lifts the contingency on the pilot despite the fact that Grunberg is formally in second position to NBC’s Love Bites. He was upped to a regular on the NBC anthology dramedy after a memorable guest stint in the pilot. But the series — initially scheduled for a fall launch in the Thursday 10 PM slot — has yet to get a premiere date. Even more ominous, its order was recently trimmed from 13 to 9.

There’s Something About Mary co-writers Ed Decter and John Strauss wrote Big Mike and are exec producing with Doug Robinson.
