I've found it funny that many say upconversion is "good" enough. It may be if you have never seen the a HD player in action, but once you have, nothing compares.
Once I had my upconverter for awhile, I hooked my 480p player back up and noticed a good deal of softness compared to 1080i upconversion. Ever since I purchased my BD player in March the upconverter has been in the closet. Well, my father in law got one of the very expensive Bose lifestyle systems for Christmas and I helped him set it up yesterday. We then watched Die Hard 4 and Transformers upconverted. While they looked great, neither compared to the HD versions I have in sharpeness/detail and color. So, while upconversion may be fine if you dont know any better, its not enough if you do. |
