Alot of people picked up Rush Hour 3 early, as well as Pan's which is great for the buyer but all of the ones sold last Thursday Friday and Saturday will not count.

I'm sure a lot did but a lot more didn't. Here's the top 10 for w/e 23/12.

1. The Bourne Ultimatum
2. The Simpson’s
3. Pirates 3
4. Harry Potter OOP

5. Harry Potter OOP
6. Planet Earth

7. Spiderman 3
8. Transformers
9. 300
10. Planet Earth

Where's RH3? It didn't manage to outsell the Blu-ray version of PE on it's 1st day (23rd Dec was the street date)!

The truth is we'll see the bulk of RH3 sales recorded in the week ending Dec 30th. It's a day/date release of a popular action title so I reckon 30,000+ units is reasonable. We'll find out soon enough but RH3 is one of the reasons the red ants shouldn't be getting too excited about their great 'Potter' giveaway.

Bourne was #1 two weeks in a row? Damn. Just wondering, where did that list come from, AVS?

This is it? Those sales must have been incredibly weak!

Those HD DUD fanboys still can't top Blu-Ray's HP sales even with a BOGO? That's real sad

It came from Vaughn (on AVS) and is probably correct. I believe that BU was part of a HD DVD BOGO for the w/e 23rd December which would explain why it beat out The Simpsons.

Volume for the week was actually very high (last full sales week before Christmas remember). As has been previously reported the ratio for this week was identical to the 16th December week, 61:39 to Blu-ray.

They released possibly the best film of the year and immediately started selling it at half price.
That doesn't feel like a sound business model

The interesting thing is Spider-man 3 is still up there at #7. Many HD-DVD advocates say 300 HD is lagging 300 BD because it's included with Tosh players, but Spidey 3 is bundled with PS3 40Gb and still rates highly!

Next week (12/30-1/5) will be interesting for numbers, as BB will have 5 free instant blu-ray movies with any BD player, but the DUDsters will have a buy 3 get 2 free sale as well.

It's transition. More folks getting into the format, that don't really like the format war. Alot of folks from the console war get into it, and realize have begun to realize why you don't have multiple concurrent movie platforms like you do with gaming.

At least that's my take.

TL-51 would cause chaos in the dud world if it ever comes to market. Disney knows this. Every dud player would be obsolete. Maybe that's why they voted for it.

It all depends how many stocked it on Dec 23. Did Amazon get it and ship it that day (it's not a sale until Amazon charges for it)?

I expect most of the shipments and availability spilled onto Dec. 24 and that would make it this week's numbers.
