It might have been George C Scott's high-water mark too. Strangelove and Patton make it a tougher call but that case could definitely be made.

I completely agree...

But I was just trying to say as far Brando's early work which is so lauded(Waterfront, Streetcar, etc.)... I feel that this Performance by Newman is right there with any of those... If not better.

But I overall feel that Newman is greatly underrated I guess because of his looks or something, and I really feel he put in a career's worth of work that greatly rivals Brando's.

Both are in my Top 5 Actors to ever Live though.

And yes, I argree that this film contain's Scott's best performance as well...
