Default Movie Theater or Home Theater?

Okay, Ive given up on ever going to the Movie Theater again.

I've just watched both War and Rush Hour 3 on Blu-Ray... neither of which I had seen in the Movie Theater. With 7.1 uncompressed and DTS-HD Master Audio pumping in my home set-up. Watching it on a calibrated 1080p 42" Monitor, and sitting in my easy chair with my patented ass groove. I see no reason to ever go to the Movie Theater again.

At home, I can tailor my movie watching experience. It's a joy that is unparalleled for a movie-aholic.

At the movie theater, my feet stick to the floor, I'm jostling for elbow room. There is ALWAYS someone talking through the whole damn movie. 50 people in front of me feel the need to text message during the movie, and all I see are these blazing white LCD phone screens in front of me, blinding me to the movie. Not to mention the picture is seldom in pristine focus, and the sound sucks... And that's if I pay the extra to go to the "good" movie theater. Don't even get me started on the cheap theater.

On Blu-Ray, I'm not subjected to 5 minutes of car commercials and HMV promotions. I can skip through the Previews if I want. I always have the best seat in the house. I can invite as many people to watch the movie with me as I want... at no extra cost. I can eat and drink what I want. Is there any down-side?

With the advent of HD movies in the home, will this spell the end of the Movie going experience? I was debating heading out to see AVP-Requiem in the theater over the holidays, but I just couldn't bring myself to deal with all the movie theater crap.

I guess I'll have to wait 3 to 6 months to see my new releases now, but that is a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

How do the rest of you feel about this?
