Default General playability question...

I have a panny bd10ak and my buddy has a sammy 1400 and we both have the same gripe. Everything works great except the fact that if you stop a film and power off, you have to start from the beginning if you come back to it later. Are the the ce's thinkin you should watch something in one sitting? I would think something like this would be able to be taken care of in a firmware upgrade. Sometimes you just have to interrupt a film and come back to it later, so why can't these bd players remember where you were like all dvd players do? I don't know if I am in a minority about this, but it sure would be good to know who to talk with to see if this could be an added feature.
