Weather you like the scene instered or not, it looks terrible! He needs to work on that CGI again beacuse in it's 2004 form it looks like hot steaming mess.

All the changes made to the OT for the special editions improved the films. It's still the same story the changes did nothing to mess up the story.

The story may be intact, but not all the changes were improvements.

Indeed.

The SEs: Just 'cause you can, don't mean you should.

There's nothing wrong with how Jabba looks. It sounds like you just have an issue with CGI.

If you really felt that way, I guess you'd champion replacing the crappy stop motion King Kong from the original as well.

Agreed the new CGI jabba from 2004 is better than the one from 1997 the 97 one looked like they added it too soon. The 04 one looks a little better.

No problem with CGI. Bad CGI is another thing.

Funny, that sounds like a suggestion more in keeping with your camp, partner.

Don't make fun of fans just because some like the special editions of the original trilogy. Their is nothing wrong with the SE's.

You have to really love stuff from the 90s to want it crammed into 70s movies. Maybe they can put some Ace of Base in there too.

Agreed. If you like crap. The '97 Jabba looks like moving, talking vomit and the '04 Jabba looks like a moving, talking turd. Maybe this time around we'll get a moving, talking boil.

Wrongo. Only if the original filmmaker was alive and wanted that to be done.

If zombie Merian Cooper came back to us and saw modern CG, he'd probably say hell yeah, do it.

That statement doesn't even make sense.

And then I would fully support his decision. Cause it would be his choice as the creator.

What if the original creator of a movie you love went back and made changes that actually did ruin or compromise your enjoyment of the film, and then decided to make that revised version the only version available for the future? Would you still fully support that as well?

Since they're not using a Delorean and traveling back in time and altering the timeline/history, I don't see the problem.
I don't agree with every change that Lucas has made either. But since I don't own them, it's not my place to feel I have a say.
And in the end, there are copies available of the films. There's Betamax, VHS, Laserdisc, DVD. So it wouldn't bother me.

So far, I can't think of any filmmaker who's done that. I grew up watching the OT on VHS and TV airings, and I liked them very much. When I saw the SE of Episode IV, the Jabba scene looked weird, but I think the 2004 DVD improved it greatly. Still, it didn't ruin my view of the film. I didn't see the other SEs until their release on VHS, but I liked them, too. The new musical sequence in Jabba's palace is rather ridiculous, but it still doesn't wreck the film for me. I liked the new John Williams music at the end of "Jedi", and seeing more of Cloud City in "Empire". Overall, most of the changes don't really bother me, because I don't treat "Star Wars" that seriously to begin with. Its not a perfect film series by any means, but its far from being the worst, too.
