And? I'm not crying and stamping my feet that Christopher Nolan made some films I don't enjoy.
I may comment how I don't enjoy them. But I don't pretend to think I have any say in how they were made.
I'm not the owner or the artist, nor am I an editor. I can dislike, but I don't pretend I have rights.

Yet these films are supposedly off-limits. They're not our films so it is not our place to question or criticize them.
Never said you don't have a right to criticize the choices. But many of you seem to think you have final cut.
Or that your opinion or say trumps that of the owner and creator. See how that works?
Quote:
Do you really not see where I'm going with this?
Nope. Because your analogy/comparison just doesn't work in this case. It's flawed.

Are popcorn movies really art though?
It's all art. Transformers 2, The Dark Knight, even Human Centipede.

That's convenient. If we agree with Lucas we have a say (in fact, we not only have a say, we're engaged in a noble pursuit), if we disagree with Lucas we don't have a say.

Convenient indeed.
Convenient how? In how you misconstrue what's being said to come off the victims?
I already said you have every right to an opinion. But you don't have an ownership stake or voting rights.

Supporting illegal fan edits makes any argument you have against him changing his films hypocritical.

Agreed Beast well said. I will only buy official versions of the films I do not support illegal fan edits and never will. I will to continue to support GL and all of his star wars films and products and not listen to some of these GL bashers out their.

Lucas should hire some of those editors and make them honest artists. Their work is pretty amazing.

The only thing worse than Lucas tinkerings are fanedits done by clueless kids who think they have even an ounce of the talent that Lucas at his worst has

Default Still don't get it.

Its not like they edited the godfather to draw a cgi mustache on al pacinos face and a pinwheel hat. All the lucas has done is put in some more cgi aliens to make his science fiction films look more science fictiony. This movie is not untouchable.

Who's saying otherwise?

Is anybody suing him? Is anybody lobbying for laws to tell him what he can and can't do with his films?

No. This whole 'artistic freedom' bit is a strawman and not a particularly good one at that.

Consumers are expressing a preference and that most definitely is 'our place'.

Does that mean you're no longer going to respond to our posts? Aw, please keep responding. It's so much more fun when you respond.

Don't bother Octagon, it's futile. He'll just keep saying the same thing over and over again. Sometimes I think he's more stubborn and set in his ways than Lucas himself is.

Beast do you have a autograph picture of GL under your pillow when you sleep at night? Do you have a Jar Jar binks tooth brush, I think it bothers you that the Fan Edits are better that GL edits!

Come, come. You should know Lucas only does the right thing from a certain point of view. One right thing would be to release the OUT at the very least in anamorphic widescreen on DVD.

Jar Jar Binks? Please don't tell me that someone actually likes that character? That will be a first in my entire lifetime. For me personally that was the best of the PT films but was ruined by not enough Maul and too much of Mr. Binks.

The funny part is I think Lucas will eventually come around.

People can go on and on about how public yapping doesn't have any impact but I honestly think the fact that people are still so passionate about changes to a 35 year old film almost fifteen years after those changes were made has not gone unnoticed.

I hope he does because I'm one of the people who will only buy Star Wars if I can get the originals without all the changes.
