Default Not Happy About HD DVD 1:1 Conference

I really wanted to see this and it just makes me mad that it got cancelled. So Im going to try to predict how it would have gone down.

HD DVD: Welcome to the HD DVD Press Conference, HD DVD is the only HD format approved by the DVD Forum. Questions?

Press: Yes, shouldn't we wait for everybody to get here, it seems as if all your chairs aren't filled.

HD DVD: Oh, that chair, sorry, uhhhhh, they aren't coming today. Next?

Press: What is your response to Warner not supporting HD DVD anymore.

HD DVD: Well, its suprising thats for sure. One thing is for sure, Warner will no be selling nearly as many discs per player. HD DVD has sold more players than blu-ray, so we are really puzzled by their logic.

Press: and New Line?

HD DVD: New Line is very small, they have only released a handful of discs, so it really isn't too much of a loss, but that being said, we are very disappointed at their departure from hd dvd.

Press: How do you expect to counter what appears to be a massive amount of studio support for blu-ray?

HD DVD: Well, blu-ray has about the same amount of support as HD DVD does, its pretty split. We have Universal, Paramount, Dreamworks, Weinstein, and many smaller independent companies, whereas blu-ray has Sony, Fox, Disney, and Warner Brothers. We believe our releases on HD DVD this year should be stronger than blu-rays.

Press: We havn't seen a tremendous amount of releases announced for HD DVD so far, what makes you so sure.

HD DVD: What we have are the classics, this is what movie lovers want, expect to see titles such as Jurassic Park, Jaws, E.T., Back to the Future, and Indiana Jones later this year. We feel as if this should be better than anything blu-ray can release.

Press: On the hardware side of things, what can we expect?

HD DVD: Expect what you have seen all along, cheap players, that offer more features than blu-ray. Last year we were excited to have released a player that was selling below $100 and we expect prices to fall even more this year. We believe that only at HD DVDs price point can HD Media trully take off.

Press: And what about hardware manufacutrers, it seems like many prefer blu-ray?

HD DVD: I don't know where you got your information from but, many CEs make HD DVD players. We have RCA, Toshiba, Onkyo, LG, Samsung, and Integra all making playes and we expect that to increase as more people get on the HD bandwagon.

Press: and what about retailers, rumors are going around they prefer blu-ray?

HD DVD: Not true, blu-ray has paid for retailers like target to put endcaps in all of their stores. No other stores have really shown bias and we don't expect that to change. Blu-ray players simply don't sell as well as HD DVD because HD DVD is much more afordbale and it offers more features. There is also a big suprise at the end regarding this subject.

Press: What are these features you keep talking about?

Things like PiP.

Press: Blu-ray can do that now.

HD DVD: Well, we have online things such as our stores where you can buy stuff like barrels and toliet paper, you can also blog and do polls about the movies online, as well as do community views.

Press: And what about TL51?

HD DVD: TL51 is good, we expect it to bring even more suppot our format.

Press: So it works?

HD DVD: No, not really. Next?

Press; Can we here the big suprise?

HD DVD: Oh yes, today, the HD DVD group would like to announce that it has the exclusive backing of K-Mart in terms of hardware.

Press: You already announced this, are you saying Kmart is dropping the PS3.

HD DVD: PS3 doesn't count!!!

Press: Your pathetic, what a waste or our time, cmon guys lets go watch the cool Sin City demo at the blu-ray booth.

HD DVD: I know you are, but what am I! Ha! We win.
