Crossover Frequency questions

Hello All, I have recently hooked up REW software and have been experimenting with it. I found that in my system the 80hz and 100hz Crossovers were causing some cancelation around the 60-110hz area. I switched the crossover to 60hz and it provides a much smoother transition while keeping the response in the 60-110hz area much flatter. I am liking the way it sounds it seems I have more mid bass and the subs are much harder to localize. I Googled to see if anyone had encountered a similar situation where the higher crossover caused less response the the mid bass region but all I encountered was a bunch of people talking about how you shouldnt use a 60hz crossover and it has me wondering, Do I have somthing set up wrong? I know it works the speaks a little more in the bass region but mine seem ok. I watched Lord of the Rings: Rotk last night at -5 below reference, the bass drivers of my speaks were moving a lot more but nothing crazy, I have had them moving more listening to Cd's in pure mode. So what is the Reason against a 60hz Crossover?
