I am a bit of a noob here. As I was saying in a previous thread, I've been an HD DVD supporter, but as the writing is on the wall, I figured, if you can't beat 'em.. join 'em
![]() I'm thinking I'm going to be waiting for the Panasonic DMP-BD50, as it seems to be the first Blu-ray player that has the online functionality that I enjoy so much with HDDVD, and I don't want a PS3. So I'm not ready to jump yet I don't think. But I was strolling the aisles of Circuit City tonight, and was curious about the terminology on some of the Blu-ray titles. It states on many of them, that they include something to teh effect of PCM Lossless. I guess I'm confused by that. I have an Onkyo TX-SR805 A/V receiver hooked up to some Paradigms. Currently my HDDVD player is hooked by HDMI and it does the decoding of TrueHD and sends the signal PCM to my A/V receiver to be amplified. What exactly is the difference between PCM lossless on Blu-ray, and what would be lossless TrueHD and DTS-HD MA as decoded by the player, or by the A/V receiver for a signal sent bitstream? thanks in advance.. |
