Default PS3 or Not?

When I watch BD's with my father, and I'm waiting for the disc to load on his BDP-S301, I wonder to myself why he spent $450 (Sam's Club) on a BD players when he could've spent $50 less on a PS3 that...

1) Decodes TrueHD, and hopefully soon DTS HD MA
2) Was the one of the first BD players to have HDMI v1.3
3) Doesn't take forever to load a BD
4) Does more than just plays movie
5) Was the first BD player to be Profile 1.1 (possibly 2.0) equipped (whether you care or not)
6) Among other reasons, reasons #1 and #5 make it the most future-proof player out there

I'm not here to bash anybody who watches their BD's on something other than the PS3, but wondering what percentage of BD owner's own a PS3. The one player I can understand is the Elite, but with that you'd have to have one bad ass TV. So what do you watch your's on?
