Blu-ray Samurai

It is well known that Blu Rays have a tougher surface that is harder to scratch than ordinary DVDs. But I was wondering if this surface has a negative effect on the flexibility of Blu Rays? I'm asking because with some covers such as some of my steelbooks, the Blu Rays bend a lot when you're taking them out of the case. And I remember when I was trying to break ordinary CDs a long time ago that they could almost bend completely like a piece of paper before they broke. Anyone know if this is still the case with Blu Ray discs?
