Oklahoma still ahead of LSU and Alabama in the USA Today poll. I just don't get it.

LSU has played FOUR ranked teams, three of them away, one of which (Florida) has 2 losses and is now unranked. Oklahoma has played two ranked teams, one of which (FSU) has 3 losses and is now unranked.

Polls continue to defy logic and drive me insane trying to find the logic.

lol.

Hope everyone had a great day yesterday like I did.

That's what happens when you let coaches vote on a major poll. A lot of coaches don't even make their own picks and have some assistant vote.

For the first time since 1982 no teams from the state of Florida are in the AP top-25. The Gators just barely missed the top-26, at #26 in the poll.

It doesn't really matter who is #1 because if Oklahoma wins out they'll make the title game and if the winner of the LSU-Alabama game goes undefeated they'll make the title game. There's no way Stanford, Boise, or Wisconsin will jump them in the polls. In addition you're supposed to vote on who you think is the best team and just because LSU has a better resume doesn't mean they're a better team. If I had a vote I'd put LSU #1 but Oklahoma has been very impressive as well and I don't have a problem with coaches putting them #1.

Ya, I'm thinking one or two of these teams run the table but don't make the championship game: Stanford, Boise, Clemson, Wisconsin. Those teams just don't play a schedule anywhere close to the SEC or Big 12.

It's looking like Oklahoma and Oklahoma State will both be undefeated going into their game on December 3rd, so really you could just say the winner of that one will be playing the winner of LSU/Alabama for the NC.

There's going to be a shit storm in two months if we have three or four teams go undefeated. Hopefully it does happen, I love when the BCS looks bad.

So do I. But really, the BCS has looked bad time and time again and nothing has changed. They just don't give a $hit as long as they make their money.

I have the opposite view of you. If you accept the premise that Alabama, LSU, and Oklahoma are all great teams, then it makes no sense that Alabama and LSU have passed Oklahoma without an Oklahoma loss. Either Oklahoma is/was better, or they aren't. If you are going to flip flop without a loss or even a close win against a cream-puff, then you should have ranked them lower to begin with.

The problem is the SEC is so much better than the Big XII that Alabama and LSU automatically get the leg up on the Sooners.

The SEC is actually having a down year. Alabama and LSU are awesome...but after those two?

Not in my book SEC and Big 12 if either one has a school undefeated, nothing else should matter.

*Unless: Some team ripped off like half a years or more worth of wins vs. ranked teams.

Not sure if anyone caught the play, but we didn't get a replay, but we lost one of our best lineman

Gonnella suffered a serious leg injury on Saturday in Maryland's game with Georgia Tech. He was on the field, in pain, for close to 15 minutes before being taken off by ambulance. The speculation is that he suffered a compound leg fracture.

The injury was gruesome enough that ESPN did not show any replays. After this account, it is easy to see why.

Maryland safety Eric Franklin, as quoted on the Washington Times:

"I didn't see what happened, but I heard people saying there was bone sticking out. We just have to keep him on our prayers and hope for a speedy recovery."

The Sooners beatdown of the shorthorns was a beautiful thing. Normally I don't like blowouts but of course there is always the exception to the rule.

The thing I've always heard (living here in Oklahoma all my life) is that they will never play the RRR at night due to the drunken rowdiness which is already off the charts when the game is played at 11:00 am.

Don't forget about Kansas State. They are still undefeated and have nice wins against Missouri and Baylor and at Miami, although somehow they only beat Eastern Kentucky 10-7 in their opener. They play Oklahoma on October 29 and at Oklahoma State the following week. I'd be surprised if they won either of them but until they lose they still need to be in the discussion.

I didn't include them because I really don't see them beating either Oklahoma team. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see them get their first loss this weekend against Texas Tech.

Unfortunately for the Big XII it doesn't matter what knowledgeable fans like you and I know. The voters will think well LSU and Alabama play in the SEC, so they should get more credit than Oklahoma's Big XII schedule. The sad truth. This system is so corrupt and unjust.

If the SEC is having a bad year but is still the second toughest conference, not even 1.00 below "the toughest", that is saying a lot.

Regardless, I don't accept that Oklahoma is better than Alabama and LSU. As fatediesel pointed out, it'll all work itself out because Alabama and LSU play each other, but the silly poll point still remains.

Eh, the Big 12 has been within a point of the SEC for the last 5 years basically, yet people always call the SEC "clearly superior".

I don't accept that Oklahoma is better than Alabama or LSU.

The difference is I don't accept that Alabama or LSU are clearly better than Oklahoma either.

If the year had started LSU - Alabama - Oklahoma, then I'd have no problem with it being that way now.

The fact that it didn't start that way but it migrated there is just dumb, because Oklahoma didn't do anything to drop from 1st to 3rd. It's SEC favoritism, and nothing more. If Oklahoma and LSU had started flipped and had opposite schedules, the order wouldn't have switched.

*EDIT* To be clear however, I have no doubt whatsoever that Oklahoma will find a way to lose in the event that they end up in a Championship game. I blame that on the coaching/preparation more than I do the team quality.
