Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017)

I would rank them in release order, even if Penelope Cruz is hotter than any other Pirates hottie except Saldana by far. It was a fun ride but just a hair worse than 3, again

Have to agree. Stranger Tides was nothing like the previous films.. felt low budget, and didn't have any 'epic' feel to it like At Worlds End and Dead Mans Chest.

I thought it was as good as Pirates 1. It was not as confusing and over done like Dead Man's Chest and At World's End were.

On Stranger Tides is as good as Pirates 1 is. On Stranger Tides is more like The Curse of the Black Pearl, when it comes to having to do with the Budget, Originality, and a simple story and plot.

... and the cinematography was weak.

On Stranger Tides is as good as Pirates 1 is. On Stranger Tides is more like The Curse of the Black Pearl, when it comes to having to do with the Budget, Originality, and a simple story and plot.

Budget more like P1? Stranger Tides felt like it was all filmed indoors aside from the rare ocean scenes.

I am looking forward to more. I really enjoyed On Stranger Tides. I did think it was a little weaker in some areas, but over-all, I thought it was good. I am glad they changed the tone and feel of it. I was getting bored by the end of the third movie.

I thought the Spanish were shoehorned into the plot and it was a matter of convenience that it was the Fountain of Youth. I thought Jack going around and finding out that he was being impersonated was repetitive and they needed to cut to the chase. The story felt flat and it missed the whimsy of the previous films.

It was Pirates: By the Numbers; horrible, no, but missing the magic of the first film and the duology.

I would think when it gets much closer to the actual release of the film or even after. Depending on when someone wants to add it to the database.

As for Depp being uninterested - he was very upset when Dick Cook was removed from Disney a few months before OST was produced - it was Cook who gave Depp a lot of support when CotBP was being made when most of the execs didn't understand or 'get' Depp's portrayal of Jack. They wanted to sack Depp at the time, and Cook stood by him.

I think that any disinterest from Depp is down to Cook's absence, but he still seems to love the character.

You know, the first thing I did after watching the movie was looking up to see who was the cinematographer, I was somewhat surprised. Whatever went wrong there? I'm not sure how the transition to 3D would have made that much of a difference. Yes, I know 3D cameras require a different type of cinematography since they cannot move around fast, but still.

Rob Marshall is most certainly not an action or adventure director at all. Far from it, I've always had mixed feelings about the director's capabilities. This was a boring movie, and I felt like the new characters were just there to breathe the oxygen out of the movie.

I didn't see POTC: On Stranger Tide because after the second sequel, I felt the stories were beginning to lose its excitement, and becoming repetitive. I strictly didn't care for: At World's End at all. So hopefully, On Stranger Tide will definitely be the end .

Agreed; part 4 is easily the best film since part 1, IMHO.
