What did you think was the matter with Dunst - just depressed or some little early mid-life crisis? She was crazy just like her parents. I have to watch it again, but I could have sworn that the movie established that her crazy behavior had happened repeatedly in the past. Through out the whole movie, people close to her were hoping that Dunst would get through the night without making "a scene" (aka an act of craziness). The only time that Dunst is somewhat perceived as being normal is just the limo scene in the beginning. She is not just some regular girl nervous about the whole wedding ceremony. She is obviously crazy in a realistic way. When I say crazy, I mean "someone with serious mental problems that has issues dealing with reality." Not Loony Tunes movie cliche crazy. This movie is a good depiction of people with mental problems - ones that aren't embarrased to show it (Dunst) and ones that like to hide it and think that they are all normal (Gainsbourg). Dunst is obviously the more mental one, but Gainsbourg tries to bury her mental probs too.
