Sony is working on using .45nm before the end of the year and I bet we see a backwards compatible model @ 399$ and a non-backward compatible model @ 299$ once they start using .45nm.

With node shrinks you get cheaper, cooler, more energy efficient, and faster processors. If they get the cell and RSX running fast enough, they should be able to emulate the PS2 w/o any additional hardware.
