What don't you understand? I'm sure with over 1000 posts you must be able to read a thread title.

So I was hanging out in a Frys today, trying to convince myself to replace my wirless n router that got fried (even though I have a perfectly good wirelss g router from before my n upgrade) and very frequently wandered the whole store trying to talk myself into it (I never did, BTW) and of course, I spent a good chunk of that time walking back and forth across the blu-ray section, which, of course is immediately next to the HD-DUD section. in the entire, oh, two hours I was in that store, i did not see a single person checking out the titles in the dud section, while the blu-section was almost always filled with browsers. As for self space, Frys had 7 shelf "sections" for blu-ray, while only 5 for DUD.

At my local Blockbuster in Mississauga (near Toronto, Ontario) I picked up a copy of Rush Hour 3 on Blu-ray to rent. As I was checking out, the Blockbuster employee said it was Ratatouille. I picked up the wrong case. Turns out the one copy of Rush Hour 3 was rented out.

I noticed that they also rent HD DVD titles. Blu-ray titles outnumber HD DVD by about 2:1. I asked when they are going to drop that "other" format. She said HD DVD will be kept forever. Blu-ray will probably lose the war in about 3 months.

I told her that HD DVD was down to 2 studios and I also gave her a copy of the Warner press release from Jan 4. She said, "Oh this is interesting".

I was surprised they are so ill-informed.

Anyways, I left the store feeling like I may have educated one person who may end up educating more.

Why, don't you?

Actually I made about 10 copies on Jan 4 to give to friends. So far I have only given out 3 I think.

All,

I'm sitting in O'Hare at the moment waiting for a flight back to 'blighty' after a whistle stop business trip which took in California, Michigan and Illinois.

I did ensure I made room in my luggage to pick up some BD's whilst Stateside. Whilst I did manage to pick up a few titles I was disappointed that I could not get '3:10 to Yuma' anywhere!

Tried 'Best Buy' and a couple of other US outlets but they were all sold out. I guess in one respect that's a great sign, however it looks as though I'll have resort to my usual sources via the web to get my hands on this great film.

P.S. Like others have stated the split in BB and other outlets looks 4:1. The HD DVD sections' were bereft of titles and customers.

P.P.S. Region coding you say? Software on my HTPC is my friend

No... Suncoast is owned by FYE, not Fry's.

Fry's might have legal grounds to sue you for the insult.

I went up to a guy yesterday at BB while waiting for Cris that was going to buy an hd dvd and asked him "Are you buying that as an upconvert?" He said no that he had just bought a hdtv and wanted a "next generation player." I told him, Why are you buying a player that has basically no studio support?

I took him over the Apple computers and showed him this site, it was funny he freaked when he saw I was an SG,lol Bottom line he bought a Sony 300.

I didn't have a print out but was bright enough to take him to a computer for the facts.
