Default The real purpose of HD-DVD combos

I was wondering why is Warner Bros. and Universal Studios releasing HD-DVD combos.

It raises the price of the disc dramaticly and I don't see any reason why somebody owning a HD-DVD player would want the SD version

Then it hit me

Warner Bros and Univeral Studios are not stupid. They are making combos on HD-DVD for 2 reasons

- Increased price for useless SD version = more profit for studio
- Increased price hastens HD-DVD death

It's a win win situation

They force combos on them so they can charge HD-DVD owners extra price and the same time bring down the format.

HD-DVD combos are meant to bridge the way to blu-ray, no self respecting studio would release its newest and best movies for the next format of choice in a rediculous 'combo' format.

Both Warner and Universal know HD-DVDs death is a matter of when and not if, so they released these stupid combos to squeeze even MORE money then usual out of it before it dies.

Sad but true IMO

Thoughts?
