If Alabama beats LSU, what exactly does it prove? That Alabama is the MNC? One could argue they're not, since LSU beat them in Tuscaloosa, and LSU would have more wins and the same amount of losses (1).

It's a game that Alabama has everything to gain and nothing to lose. LSU, OTOH, has everything to lose and very little to gain, since they already took care of business against Alabama earlier this season.

It proves exactly what it should who the #1 and #2 best teams in college football are. Other than Houston (who would probably get destroyed), who would beat either one of those teams (again there are always exception)?

Ok State can't even beat Iowa State, Stanford looked like trash against Oregon, Vtech lets be real never plays well against quality teams and you'd see destruction if they had to play an SEC team, Boise again can't even win at home against scrub competition, Oregon who beat Stanford got Smashed by LSU, we saw what happened when Arkansas had to play both LSU and Bama (Beatdowns).

Again other than Houston and their weak schedule NOBODY else has proved worthy to be in the game.

It's not LSU or Bama's fault everyone else sucks right now. And the same would apply if it was Michigan and OSU given how everyone else's seasons have shaken out.

The only way I'd support an Alabama-LSU matchup is if there's a potential rubber game after the one that they're going to play, just in case Alabama wins. Since that's not happening, I can't fully support this matchup, even though the chances of it happening are virtually 100%.

I mean I get nobody really wants to watch the same teams again especially in College, but I'd rather see an OT 9-6 game vs. the two best teams then say a Stanford team have to get annihilated by LSU (but again that's just based on what we've seen, they could very well win the game). We'll see what happens, but I'm still not convinced Bama will even get in.

Stop saying this. Let's see how Alabama or LSU plays on the same day it's announced that they have a tragedy on their campuses.

If there's ever an argument for a game that doesn't count, it's that Oklahoma State game. NOT the LSU/Bama game.

I totally agree, and would like to see Oklahoma State lose play against Alabama or LSU instead of seeing a rematch. I also think it's unfair (dumb might be a better word) for Bama to back into the Nat'l Championship game without playing in its conference championship game. (Even though I'm a total hypocrite and was arguing that Georgia deserved to be in the Nat'l Championship game in 2007 without playing in the conference championship game, but that's totally different!! )

Chris Petersen has told UCLA he is not interested in the opening, and now Sumlin appears to be the top target.

Sumlin looks like he's going to have a tough decision with UCLA, Arizona State, and Texas A&M all having him as their top target.

Which do you think will be the most attractive for him? A&M?

Yep - bummer for UCLA. You'd have to think Peterson wants to leave Boise State at some point...I guess he's waiting for a top tier position. Did UF go after him last year?

Wonder if UCLA's given any thought to Kirby Smart (Def. Coordinator at Bama).

Petersen declined to interview at both Miami and Florida last year, so I don't know if he has any plans of leaving Boise State.

It's really tough for me to decide because each school has pros and cons. Texas A&M is about to join the SEC and I think it's going to be tough to win there with such tough competition, but Sumlin should be able to recruit good players in Texas that would rather play in the SEC than the Big 12 but want to stay close to home.
UCLA has some history but it's always going to be overshadowed by USC and it's facilities are nowhere near as good as USC, but there are plenty of players that want to play in LA.
Arizona State has a campus (and area) that is so beautiful and fun that some people have said it's hard to focus on football, but it's proximity to Texas should help with recruiting and the Pac-12 is nowhere near as tough as the SEC. Arizona State doesn't have near the fan support of the other schools though and the Phoenix area cares more about pro than college teams.

He's always come across to me as a good guy, but I don't know if he wants the pressure of a top tier program when he can win 10+ games at Boise State and still make $1.5 million a year.

Not to mention $1.5 million in Boise could buy a mansion in Boise, whereas $3 million from UCLA would buy a modest house that needs some work. Forbes recently listed UCLA as the most expensive college area in the country with the average house costing $1.3 million.

Yes but even 10+ win seasons at Boise State get you a silly bowl appearance if you don't win the conference, which he hasn't done for two years straight.

A $3 million salary would get him a gorgeous and huge house in LA. It would get him even more in Gainesville.

Oh come on now. If it were directly impacting the football team I'd agree. But a tragedy effecting the women's basketball team shouldn't cause their football team to lose to a terrible Iowa St. team. The plane crash tragedy is nothing more than a lame excuse for OK St.'s football team choking away what should have been an easy win.

Yeah, I called him lame -- which he is. If anyone thinks what he did to Tennessee isn't lame, I question their integrity. I didn't call you or your post lame. That was all you, dear.

I have no idea what "HTH" and "HAND" mean, though, so perhaps I'm way to old for this awesome conversation.

Go USC!
