This fits with what a rabid HD DVD told me the other day when I mentioned Warner and others going Blu-ray exclusive. His emphatic statement was, "HD DVD has 100% studio support! HD DVD player's upscaling of DVD is just as good as those Blu-ray disks."

Seems like some people will never see the light.

Actually Toshiba is doing some VERY interesting things with nuclear power plants! They have developed a TINY 20 ft x 6 ft reactor with 220kw output. One of these could power a large building or residential neigborhood for 40 years with very little or no maintenance, independent of the power grid. There are all kinds of advantages to a power system like this. These things will be available in the US (pending approvals) by next year!

I really despise Toshiba the consumer electronics company, but their other divisions ARE actually developing good technology that will benefit humanity. Its just a shame that the CE side of things is run by shifty people with no honor.

Trust me, Nuclear related work and Hollywood are not the same thing at all. The Nuclear industry is pretty lucrative, not just anyone can dip their toes in it without knowing alot about it.

Well if that is the case, you should have said that Blu-ray has 175% support, since it ALSO supports upscaling DVD, AND have 75% of HD.

As someone who also feels this country needs a more objective look at the costs and benefits of nuclear power instead of buying into unjustified fear, I must say that I don't think it's "nuke-fear" when people are nervous about small nuclear reactors being placed every couple of blocks. I think the burden of proof is on Toshiba, etc., to show how this can be done safely and how these miniature power plants wouldn't be easy targets for someone wanting to cause chaos.

Perhaps they have answers for all of this. I don't know; I haven't researched it. I'm just saying they are proposing a fairly radical step here which at first glance seems to be quite different than a secured, well-maintained, safe, centralized nuclear power plant.

.....there's a huge amount of new large-scale nuclear planet construction on the books globally is there not? & a lot planned in the US.....the rise in U308 commodity price has reflected that to some extent......an increase in centralized nuclear plant construction has
pretty much lost the stigma once associated to it......even the 'mentalists can't piss & moan about it. Small localized plants would require a hurdle yes, since ill-informed zealots always tend to have the loudest voice. On another note, some of them Trinity style mushroom cloud docus would make some good blu-rays eh?
