planty of nude scenes, incest and implied underage sex, shocked it hasn't caused an uproar to be honest, same goes for the Borgias. Which I think is another outstanding series, and is almost identicle to GoT.

I totally agree, and having had to wait(due to very unfortunate circumstances) during The Wheel of Time series...I have become very patient while waiting for the next book of a well written series.

Duuuuuude. I know we all joke around about this all the time, amongst other fans of the books, but this scares the shit out of me. I didn't care for Wheel of Time so I didn't give a crap when the series wasn't finished, but I would be absolutely gutted, just devastated if GRRM didn't finish this one. I wonder how he feels that everyone is basically like "hurry up and finish these goddamn books, then you're allowed to die". He only has 2 more books. I'd love them to go on forever and ever, but he needs to tie the series up so I can breathe a sigh of relief. Then he can write books that kind of continue the series like an epilogue after the fact, but he needs to tie it all up in one package and fast.

[Show spoiler]I think Jon Snow is the lovechild of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, hence the whole series being called "Ice and Fire". This means he isn't a bastard and he's not only the last male Targaryen, he's also a natural blood Stark. When I came to this conclusion completely by myself I was shocked to find out how many other people had come to the same conclusion. I think eventually Jon and Dany end up meeting up, finding that they are the last Targaryens and ruling the Seven Kingdoms together. Or something to that effect. I don't want to write too much here.

It's about as hard-R as you can get man. Forget what you think you know about fantasy books. In fact the books are far more R-rated than the show is.

Just finished watching the 1st episode demo disk from BB. Picture quality is some of the best there is. Audio is no slump either, definitely picking up this set.

if I had the money to get it in the first place, I'd probably get the wolf/Stark version version since I'm not a fan of the red/black color scheme on the dragon/Targaryen one. I like both wolves and dragons equally so I'd have to resort to petty reasons Both versions are better than the normal cover though.

I really like the Stark version of the BB exclusive. I'll probably get that one. I wish the Upgrade and Save promotion was going on when this is released because I'm a little spoiled for getting Boardwalk Empire for $30

I put the $5 down to get the keychain and to have a good excuse to get a dvd and bluray demo disc from the register employee (cuz God knows they have no idea what they're selling and what these demo discs are).

Thing is I'm not really interested in these exclusive covers just cuz I like uniformity on my shelves and I don't trust BestBuy at all to be releasing similar packaging for any of the upcoming seasons. Add to that, BB will sell theirs for $54.99 plus tax while Amazon has it for $52.99 with free shipping and no tax, I'm definitely leaning the Amazon route unless Best Buy's packaging is reviewed as being a spectacularly one of a kind piece of art in the box art kingdom.

I don't think that season 2 will have a theme like season 1, but you never know. That would be nice. I like being able to choose between different covers, and I love some exclusives. BB's BE exclusive was great, but Target's stank IMO, for example.

Do you think they will be selling the exclusive covers in the stores or will it be an online thing only. I want the Targaryen box but I want to actually look at it in the store and find the one that's in perfect condition.

If you want uniformity, if HBO/BB put out the second season in the same size style box as the first season you can just buy a bunch of exclusive boxes and put the seasons in those. Then sell the extra season 1's you have.

Haha....The cashier who rang me out looked at the price AND the demo disc for a couple minutes. (no joke) He was like "is this really a penny???" I had to clarify for him what it was and why it was like that. This happens more often than one cares to admit....

In-store too. I have yet to see any Best Buy exclusive that wasn't also available in-store.

The approach to sex and nudity is totally different in the books than in the show. The language is much more raw in the books and the sex in the books is more implied than visualized but it is also of a more taboo nature. On the show, the sex and nudity is more up front but also less controversial. For example, the show created a character called Roz who is a prostitute. She was not in the books and her only purpose seems to be to provide nudity and sex scenes. The show also chose to push the hinted at relationship between Renley and Loras to the forefront with a very blatant scene.

Brandon Sanderson is doing a wonderful job finishing up the Wheel of Time series from the notes and chapters left behind by Robert Jordan. He's a very nice man and has set much of his own writing aside to do this. Hopefully Song of Ice and Fire will never have to deal with such a sad situation.

Roz would be the one that Theon is frequently with in the show, right?

I know Shae is in the show but she's also a big part of the books. Sidenote: the actress playing Shae is a working porn star.

That's her. And I believe the main reason she was created for the show was to help flesh out Theon a bit in the first season, as he didn't really emerge as a major character until the second book. One thing I love about the show is that it can include scenes that happened "off-screen" during the novels. In fact, I'm hoping that

Yeah when it comes to ASOIAF it's best to err on the side of caution when it comes to spoilers. In fact nobody who hasn't read all 5 books should venture anywhere near westeros.org because the spoilers fly freely there.

I agree, I'd like to see Robb have more of a role in the second season. I'd also love to see the whole

[Show spoiler]Whispering Wood sequence played out in full. It's great in the book because you just hear bits and pieces from different people who were there, and it adds to the mystique of it, but in the show I'd love to see that whole battle. Just epic. Grey Wind ripping out throats needs to be seen, and HBO is the one to do it. Haha. I sincerely hope they don't downplay The Red Wedding, either. I really hope it has as much of an impact on viewers of the show who haven't read the books as it did on me when I read it. For that to happen, Robb and Catelyn need to get a lot of screen time.

But then she turns up again for a meaningless sex scene with another woman at Little Fingers brothel. She was there to flesh out her flesh. The funny thing is, when I saw her on the show I thought she'd turn out to be some kind of spy as her scenes always involved Tyrion, Theorn and Little Finger. Great theory til I learned she wasnt in the books.

Well quite honestly the books are just too big and expansive to make into a show as-is. Not to mention the alternating narratives. I accept all they are doing to "TV show" it as a necessary evil. I look at them as two separate entities and I think they're doing a good job. That said I'd HIGHLY RECOMMEND everyone reads the books before watching the show. As good as the show is, the books are downright incredible.
