I completely agree. When I went to watch Beauty and the Beast in 3D I was really pissed when they had Disney instead of Walt Disney.. I think all the classics should be labelled as Walt Disney. They can do whatever they want with the new crap that comes out.

What are the chances of an Aladdin Trilogy boxset ā la The Lion King Trilogy?

Very high, I'd say. That seems to be the trend, releasing the originals with the sequels.
I do like The Lion King II, but The Lion King 3 is only really good for young kids. I liked it back in the day, but not really now. However, I can tolerate the sequels enough to get the extra reward points However, I don't like any of the Aladdin sequels enough to own them, even for the reward points. |

I find the Aladdin sequels to be one of the few enjoyable sequels. Them, the Rescues Down Under and Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch has a Glitch.

Back to the thread title, SO EXCITING. Pocahontas is a surprise for me and may have to break with my "waiting for disney bluray club" to release the movies and buy this in a B&M. That just leaves two of my favorite disney movies to be rereleased but on bluray this time: 101 Dalmations (which is apparently on the way) and Lilo and Stitch which they sadly sat on the extended dvd release til 09 it probably won't be out til 2016. :-/ |

Some reflections to this news:
-I love The Rescuers and I'm very glad is finally getting a BD release. I hope they give it a proper restoration and good bonus material. I don't like The Rescuers Down Under but, as some of you pointed out, it's not a big offense because that sequel was done by Walt Disney Animation Studios and is part of the official canon. I just hope they get the "Fantasia" treatment and get separate BDs for each film. -Regarding Pocahontas, I love the original but I absolutely HATE the cheapquel. Is sad that Disney is packing great films with crappy sequels. I'm guessing this release will be exactly as the The Fox and the Hound release. I only hope the first film will look and sound great and have good bonus features. -I'm glad that lesser known films are getting released on BD like The Aristocats and I hope Disney treats it well. -The Aladdin announcement was a HUGE exciting surprise. While I was hoping that it will get release this November (as a 20th anniv.), being released as a Diamond title is much better!! First, now we are sure that will look and sound fantastic and that will have great new bonus material. Oh, and also that it won't be packed with their awful cheapquels (which I'm guessing will get separate releases later next year). However with this announcement there are still some loose ends: First, what will happen to Peter Pan? I know that some are thinking that The Little Mermaid will be delayed but I'm sure that after the 3D theatrical re-release, it will be released as a Diamond edition on Fall next year. Now Peter Pan is another matter, with the surprise inclusion of Aladdin, we can just guess if it's going to be released on 2014 or that this one was kicked out of the line instead of Aladdin. If Peter is still part of the Diamond collection, my guess is this one: Fall 2012: Cinderella Spring 2013: Aladdin Fall 2013: The Little Mermaid Spring 2014: Peter Pan Fall 2014: The Jungle Book Spring 2015: 101 Dalmatians Fall 2015: Sleeping Beauty Spring 2016: Pinocchio If you noticed, starting with Peter, this is the same pattern in which the Platinum DVDs were released which may be they patter they will follow for the Diamonds. Also, Disney said in its original press release that they will release their Diamond titles until 2016 so the dates might be correct. Also there is the possibility that another film (not Peter) was kicked out. If that's the case, probably it can be one of the two already released on BD (SB or Pinocchio). And las but not least, Didnīt you noticed a title that is missing from the booklet and is supposed to be released this year? Yeah, I'm talking about FINDING NEMO. Aside from a 3D trailer and a teaser, we haven't heard anything for that film. Still I hope is released later this year alongside the BD of Brave. |

Up to that point, Tarzan and Emperor's New Groove had fared okay in dual 1-disk and 2-disk editions, but Atlantis's "Collector" edition was dead in the water. Back then, they didn't know why ![]() The reason it took until '09 to "free" a Lilo SE was not only that 2-disk DVD's were becoming easier to sell in '09 than they were in '01 (duh ![]() ![]() |

I was absolutely surprised when I heard that Aladdin was being dropped out of the diamond line a week ago, because Aladdin was the last movie Howard Ashman worked on and I thought that the movie had too much sentimental value to just throw away. That being said, I just want to travel in time and walk into best buy and get these and come back..

But Walt's hands weren't on it beyond greenlighting. I wouldn't attribute anything beyond The Jungle Book to him, except possibly the Pooh shorts in Many Adventures that Walt worked on.

Brave is getting a December 2012 release over here. Strangely enough, both sequels will see a BD release (confirmed in Greece for the time being). Even Cinderella 2. |

Separate, like all the Diamond sequels, but not tied to any traditional schedules:
Probably sold separately--Cindy 3 has enough salvaged reputation by now to be its own "event" release, but all Cindy 2 has is a "brand label". That's never stopped them before, though. |

Cindy 3 was Disney's "apology", and set out to be more of a class act, taken from their popular Cruise ship show. Classic-title heresy aside, neither one's bad-bad as Disney sequels go, even if they're not the original, but just so long as you know a TV episode when you see it. |
