That's Louis CK's quote... he actually has another bit where he uses the example of people complaining because they have to choose a language on the ATM as their big hardship.

Given how people here do complain about the issues with Canadian bilingual blu-ray releases, might be even more appropos...

I do find it strange that people would voluntarily act as publicists for Canada's richest movie store and try to deny the mountain of evidence to the contrary. But I still respect their right to make that their bizarre choice and I won't tell them they don't have a right to free speech.

Heck some might find it bizarre that I spend slices of my life making these situations known and suggesting solutions. Many would think I shouldn't bother offering suggestions, that I should just let the companies or individuals fail without offering anything constructive.
Well said.

You've got me confused with someone else. I could care less about slipcovers or cases since I put everything in a cd wallet. As far as PMs go, I've only been denied once, years ago and I didn't post about it on here, so you're also confused there.

I could case less about FS/BB. I'm just tired of your personal rants all the time. They sound borderline psychotic.

I could be mistaken as there's probably an intersection between people with your shall we call it undue pretentiousness and a perchant for certain fantasy avatars.

However you are undeniably the person who constantly claims that every salesperson is your friend. While there's a tiny chance that's true, there's a much greater likelihood that you don't possess the basic social self-awareness to know the difference between genuine friendship and a clerk that's just humouring that pompous movie geek who never wants leave the store. Or I could be mistaken.

It's pretty much always a direct reaction to the over-the-top complaints. The fact is, Best Buy and Futureshop do us a favour by even existing. Of course, the relationship is mutually beneficial, but they certainly don't owe us anything. Suggesting ways to get deals from them is fine, but you consistently make their executives out to be cartoonishly evil Disney villains because of situations that are largely grey-area customer service issues that don't end up benefiting you to the maximum. If it seems like I'm acting as their publicist, it's only as a counterbalance to what I perceive as your complete raving lunacy. I'm not exaggerating when I say that btw; if you think my choice of words is "bizarre", know that the feeling is mutual.

Hey, I am all for getting along.

However, I think if you are going to post complaints about a company, you should have the nerve to back up your claims and not with incessant whining high-school labels and broad sweeping statements like "corporations are greedy" blah blah blah.

If there is a point to be made and debated, I am willing to argue it, but it appears that there is nothing but banter in which case I have better things to do.

For someone so convinced on what is right and wrong, he frequently gets his facts mixed up.

The bottom line is I have no problem getting the deals and using coupons, discounts, PM-ing, etc from these Hell-on-Earth companies. I'm quite convinced now that it has nothing to do with the companies, and more to do with the individuals who have bad luck.

An attitude shift may work wonders for your shopping experience.

THIS.

Having retail experience, I can't emphasize enough how much more improved your shopping experience will be when you're courteous.

This too does, and does not work. I am always courteous and flirtatious with salesclerks as I know that by being a kind, and polite individual I would expect to receive the same in return, however it is not always the case. Often I can leave the store in a completely changed mood from whence I went in there as the sales clerk will be having a bad day and try to argue any slight price adjustment no matter how right I am about it.

i happen to be drinking orange juice while reading this thread and was laughing so hard i spit it out all over my computer table! being courteous is one thing, but i dont see being flirtatious as a viable/ established method of achieving success in these scenarios, unless you happen to look like Ryan Gosling.

you are 100% correct. I have been given the run around before, and also told they CANNOT price match something from amazon.ca reasons etc. Now my friend works at FS and he price matches amazon for me ALL THE TIME!!

it definitely comes down to what rep you're being served by. Sure SOMETIMES they can be nice, but alot of the time them either not knowing their policies well enough or knowing them too well will likely result in a decision that has a 50/50 shot of working in your favor.

Sorry to derail this thread and actually post a deal but FS has some interesting $9.99 titles. Feast, City Of God, Horde, The Ninth Gate, and some other stuff I hadn't seen at this price before. BB has most of the same prices.

The Secret of Nimh is also $7.99 at BB.

People complaining about people complaining is getting old guys, thats my hypocritical complaint. Hope me expressing myself isn't a suspendable offence and no ones feeling were hurt.

Well now sure it is! Telling the clerk they look rather ravishing today puts a smile on their face! You should try it some time

And btw, I do look like Ryan Gosling.

That wal-mart story is crazy. Created a fake site wtf?

However I don't know why you even bother trying to match Amazon.ca. By the time you add Priority shipping (which it clearly says they have to), it's not worth it at all since it's an extra $12.50. Just buy it from Amazon.ca at that point.
