How much u enjoy AFFC totally depends on two things: Who ur a fan of and how u read the books. I really enjoy Brianne and Arya who were heavily featured in 4 and back at the end of 5 so it didnt bother me. If I was big on Tyrion or Daenerys fan I would have been pissed at AFFC. Also it depends how u read it. I read them all after watching the show on HBO so there was a short time between 4 and 5. If I were reading them as written and an original fan, it was four years between SoS and AFFC and six more til ADWD. If I were a Tyrion fan and had to wait ten years to see what he was up to I would have been very angry. Quote:
As I mentioned above, it depends how u read them. If u read them all consecutively like I did, the format wasnt so bad. If u were reading them on release, the format would have been agonizing. Martin must have made some changes with the new format. Davros was good example of how he used the format to his advantage. Some things also work better in a book than they will on tv. [Show spoiler]

There's no doubt that those coming to the books now, or at least in the past couple years (like me) are getting off relatively easy with regard to AFFC and ADWD. I can't imagine waiting ten years to find out about some of my favorite characters. As it was, the two books read like a gigantic epic split into two narratives (not unlike the Lord of the Rings books, after the fellowship splits apart). But to wait for 6 years in between would have pissed me off too.
Even if Martin takes his sweet time with future installments (I hope not), we at least have the HBO series. Long time book fans (from the beginning) did not have that luxury. Last edited by Aragorn the Elfstone; 02-22-2012 at 04:14 AM. |

It appears that Best Buy has dropped their pre-order price down to $34.99 on your choice of limited covers and keychain.

I'd rather pick it up in-store anyway. I can't count the number of times box sets I've ordered online from Best Buy or Amazon have arrived with smashed-in corners. They never seem to account for the added weight and it gets banged around in shipping. If you go there you're guaranteed to get a box that's in perfect condition. |

It should change your order automatically...or pretty soon. Just go check your order history...
