Default Retailer to sell third high-def format

This VMD optical format is the worse quality HDTV format in terms of capacity since it uses existing red laser DVD technology. The bit rates are going to be low for VC1 movies. Could you imagine placing a HDTV movie on a 8.5GB disc the VC1 bit rate would be around 8Mbit per second. The players are only going to cost $199 for a 1080P model. I really doubt the movie studios in the United states are going to support this format. They are now saying that 50GB VMD 10 layer discs could be made. With 3 HDTV optical formats on the market the average consumer is going to be totally confused. Then some company will want to make a universal player that plays BLU-RAY, HD-DVD, and VMD discs.
