I didn't make the worm connection right away, either. It's not obvious because we never see the worms roll around in the black soup, and there is so much to take in as the science party is learning and uncovering things that the two worms get forgotten.

That ship happened to be a brother to the ship that you see that comes out of the ground at the end. They are roughly of the same period give or take a couple hundred years, right?

Other than that, there’s no real link except it explains I think who may have had these capabilities, which are dreadful weapons way beyond anything we could possibly conceive, bacteriological drums of shit that you can drop on a planet and the planet… Do you know anything about bacteria? If you take a teaspoon and drop it in the biggest reservoir in London, which also scares the shit out of me, and amazes me that there are not huge guards around it… That’s the way to do it. You don’t do 9/11, you just get a teaspoon of bacteria, drop it in, and eight days later the water is clean and then suddenly on the eighth day the water goes dense and cloudy, but by then it’s been sent to every home and several million people have drunk it, you’ve got bubonic. It’s that simple.

That’s how scary it is, so these evolutions of these guys who have watched developing DNA, it’s like “How can DNA change that quickly, sitting in front of me on a table…” That’s because your mind doesn’t allow you to accept that that may be feasible, that’s the deal

Yeah, I thought about it once I posted that spoiler. Your take makes more sense, but...

[Show spoiler]with the large head and ritualistic inscriptions on the walls, it seemed more like a tomb to me. It was most likely a "bomb" storage room.

We know it wasn't the 'driver's seat' from the hologram playback.

The exuded black goo is internally manufactured by the green membranes shown in the scene when David is examining the canister he brought back to the ship. The mutated target lifeforms complete the lifecycle, thereby creating the creatures that rapidly annihilate the target lifeform population. So, why would they need more than one? Answer, to shorten the extinction of the target lifeforms.

saw it Friday-- waited a couple of days to digest it and read comments--

overall-- very good sci-fi film with lots to discuss-- incredible sets, music score, effects, story was fascinating and controversial--- this wasn't in the same realm of ALIEN and ALIENS (5 star classics) but overall a very good film that I'm actually looking forward to seeing again on blu--

This is the first movie that i have seen in 3D. It was very enjoyable. Maybe I was just taking in all the sites. But I really try not to get to caught up in the breaks in the timelines and stuff and just enjoy the movie for what it is. It wasn't terrible by any means. I give it a B+ and I will consider buying it on BD. But probably not a day 1 purchase.

I'm seeing it again tomorrow in RealD3D. Have to listen carefully to the dialogue. Couldn't make out what Weyland said after his 'meeting' with the Engineer.

[Show spoiler]I was surprised. I always assumed that was a telescope that allowed the Space Jockey (now an engineer) to see through the walls of his ship since there were no windows. It almost seems pointless as a device now since the entire room projects a holographic star chart.

It was very cool to see it deploy and get used though!

I don't understand the confusion of rather Meredith Vickers (Theron) was an android or not. I think Weyland was worried about her and that is why he had a emergency life-raft vessel built entirely for her. That way if they had faced a deadly threat that she would be safe. She would not need such a vessel if she were an android.
