A thread for listing 2.35:1/2.39:1 movies whose open matte version (16:9/4:3) version is available somewhere (DVD, Foreign Blu-ray or HDTV broadcast)
I can think of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (16:9 HDTV broadcast) Air Force One (4:3 DVD) Spiderman 3 (16:9 HDTV broadcast) Titanic (16:9 3D blu-ray) If it is an open matte then it would have to be a film shot in Super 35mm. Contrary to many here the reason for the format was a 2.39:1 version in cinemas and a 1.33:1 version for TV's back in the 1990's for the most part. Examples are Terminator 2, Showgirls, Terminator 3, etc. I have no problem at all with a 1.78:1 version of any of these films. If they are cropping Panavision films that is not open matte.
