Default Quick Question

I have a quick question about some blu ray drives.... right now newegg has a lg blu ray/ hd dvd drive for 229.00 and I'm really interested in getting it... the problem is my friend had a pioneer drive that he let me borrow and when I installed it I got a error saying something about the format wasn't recognized. I have 3 different programs that say they are blu ray drive compatible but to no avail nothing worked.....

I have a evga 680i motherboard 2 8800GTS (G92) videocards, a 24inch monitor etc.....

From what I've read on newegg and other sites people are sayin a lot of blu ray drives aren't compatible with nvidia chipsets.... is that true?

I just don't wanna get this drive if I'll run into the same problem as the pioneer drive.

Sorry about the horrible grammar I just got off of 24 hour duty.....any help would be greatly appreciated.
