PQ: I had not invested in an Ayngaran Song compilation prior to this as I've always bought the individual movies themselves on blu-ray and the compilations didn't make good value for money, as far as I was concerned. I decided to take a chance on this as it had songs from hitherto unreleased movies on HD, except for VTV. Boy oh boy, what a pleasant surprise! I loved the collection of songs on this compilation. The PQ is fantastic overall, with VTV arguably being the poorest performer of the lot on a relativistic scale and that is the statement that says it all about this blu-ray's PQ. Its intricate details dazzle, and the natural texture of faces and the clarity of the surroundings could not be any more impressive. The image remains sharp and focused even at a distance, capturing with startling precision some fine details. I am spoilt for choices when it comes to describing my favorite songs on this BD. When a moment freezes in time, the rules of reality get suspended and suddenly you see magic in things that never demanded a second look. It is when a moment is frozen or slowed down by multiples of hundred times, you suddenly see that gravity disappears into thin air. You see man fly like a bird, walk on water or dance in air. Things that look unreal but are not. It is happening around us every day, every moment and yet we don't see them. Slowing time brings this magic to light in the song Rules Kidayadhu in Nootrenbadhu. The song was shot on the Phantom Flex camera that can shoot up to 2500 frames per second. The song exaggerates the actions that happen in a second through slow motion and makes us realize the magic around us, portrayed immaculately in Hi-def. I could go on and on about some of the other outstanding songs on this blu-ray, but I think it is fair to say that this song is a good representative sample of the PQ of this BD overall. This is a pure Blu-ray transfer, and defines an exemplary presentation. AQ: The LPCM and DTS-HD Master Audio tracks maintain excellent clarity with superb, far-reaching dynamics that never overwhelm the well-prioritized, always intelligible vocals. The whole front soundstage is sprawling with ambience to give the lossless mix a demanding but very engaging presence. The rear speakers deliver distant ambient effects with awesome lucid movement that sometimes feels as though certain objects are right in the room. Directionality and pans are great on some of the songs, with exhilarating, life-like transparency. The incredibly powerful and spectacularly responsive bass is phenomenal. Kudos to Ayngaran once again for releasing another Demo-worthy product. Verdict: This Blu-ray edition arrives with a spectacular, reference-quality high-def transfer for the most part and a fulfilling audio presentation that expands the desirability-quotient of this release. Highly Recommended! |
