Hi all,
I've just joined this morning as I bought an HD TV on Thursday. I plumped for a Panasonic 50" Viera and very pleased with it I am. However, I see how it exposes the sometimes lacklustre quality of standard DVD definition so I scanned the web over the weekend looking for info on the 'new' formats. In my own mind Blu-ray seems to be the way forward for the following reasons, but please correct me or comment on my thoughts: 1. More studio support than HD-DVD, 8 major players versus 3 if I'm not mistaken. 2. Greater storage capability than HD-DVD. 3. Some seriously major manufacturer support, including HP - the largest IT corporation in the world I believe. 4. The PS3. If it does the same kind of fandango as the PS1 and PS2 in world sales, it will put Blu-ray into many many homes. 5. Frankly, 'Blu-ray' sounds loads cooler than 'HD-DVD'! ![]() So, that's brought me here. I think I'll plump for the Panasonic DMP-BD10 as far as hardware goes. It seems to get good reviews and I've always been very impressed by the quality of their video goods. It retails for between £900 and £1200 ($1746-$2328) here in the UK, so once my AV fund has been replenished, I'll dive in. ![]() Cheers! Rob |
