No, it wouldn't look good on Blu. The film elements are a mess.

I'd also request another commentary with director Abel Ferrara as well as a making-of documentary, a tribute to Zoë Tamerlis, any deleted scenes that might exist, and trailers/tv spots/radio spots....rounded off with a 1.78:1 anamorphic (DVD) 1080p (BD) transfer and uncut!

Almost had MS. 45 but no one at Shout supported the film, so we didn't get it.

That's such a bummer to hear, Cliff. I'm surprised that the folks at Shout weren't more responsive to this film since it certainly has its cult appeal. Maybe somewhere down the line. Not trying to sound greedy but just curious if you guys have already selected next Friday's announcement? Are the Friday schedules firmly in place or are you guys just basically picking and choosing randomly as each Friday comes? Thanks man!

I'm guessing Rawhead Rex and/or The Burning for next Friday.

Yeah, I was bummed.
We have lots of titles to pick from for announcements, but no they are not set.

I think Rawhead is still with Lionsgate, so it won't be that

Don't worry, I'm sure a french editor will see its potential!
Just cross your fingers for removable subtitles 'though, because here in France, we have the dumbest editors on Earth when it comes to removable subs!

So strange Shout released Fear City which is clearly not as good as Ms.45...
Go figure!
Sometimes I guess I simply can't understand the editors.

I wish Lionsgate didn't have Chopping Mall. I would love to see Scream Factor get their mitts on it.

I found the movie to be overhyped...plus the 4:3 DVD is awful!

It's a great film. But the DVD is pretty piss poor. Especially since it reuses a VHS master for the release.

It's still good enough for me until gives it a proper doctoring. Even my brother, the guy who hates most movies, loved chopping mall. He said it was fun and amusing.

I'm not a big fan of Ms. 45 but its still disheartening to hear that top brass didn't support the film and so did not go out through the label. Kinda has me worried we won't be seeing the hard(er)-core films like it in decent new DVD editions from Shout.

Cliff, quick question - is Shout focusing solely on the newly-licensed titles or is there room for additional independent acquisitions, maybe stuff like Hell Night? Thanks.

agreed. Heck, I even liked his version of Exorcist: The Beginning. And Nightmare on Elm Street 4 of course.

I can't understand that logic, as Ferrera has a pretty sizable cult fanbase. I can only imagine the folks who have picked up Bad Lieutenant or King of NY would be eager to see his earlier work. And with some of the recent titles revealed for future release, I'd bet Ms. 45 would be comparable in sales. Maybe run it by them again?

I seem to remember Cliff mentioning sometime back that he would love to put out "Hell Night" and "Fade to Black" but I think there was difficulty in locating the rights owner to one or both of the films. Hopefully, both of those films see a release from Scream Factory someday.

That's so disappointing. Cliff, if you're at liberty to say, who has the rights?

Cliff,

Do a lot of the folks at Shout support Escape From New York? There are some horror elements in that!

Not only that but its a great film. If that ever goes Blu Ray again it has to match whats on the Collectors Edition. Im not *upgrading* if the Blu Ray has nothing.
That goes for Near Dark as well. Buying bare bones blu rays to replace DVDs that has TONS of extras isnt my thing, and the studios should be ashamed to sell a blu ray that has less content than the SD
