Exclamation Resident Evil 2 HD Remake Possible if fans want it!

Quote:
Resident Evil 6 will be released in less than a week and questions have already arisen about what would be next in the zombie franchise. Gamespot sat down with the developers of Resident Evil over at Capcom to find out and the response they got was both surprising and exciting.
According to Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, Capcom would be inclined to remake Resident Evil 2 in HD if fans really wanted it.

"Just to lay all the cards on the table, that way there's no rumor-mongering or things like that, no , we are not working on a Resident Evil 2 remake as of now," said Hirabayashi. "But if fans really clamor for it; if there's a groundswell of support remaking that game, then I think that's something Capcom would take under consideration."

The good news is that Capcom is not new to remaking games. In 2002, they gave the Nintendo Gamecube a remake of the original Resident Evil that included new gameplay elements, environments, and even new story elements. The game's visuals were among the best of the time and the game remains the standard in terms of tone and mood.

The game was well received and regarded by critics. Electronic Gaming Monthly even bestowed the "Game of the Month" award for the Month of February.
Resident Evil 2 is one of the most critically beloved Resident Evil games ever made. The game takes place in Raccoon City and lets gamers play as Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield as they try to escape the zombie ridden city with young Sherry Birkin, the daughter of T-Virus creator William Birkin. Fans have been clamoring for a return to the days of survival horror, but a remake brings up an interesting question: Would Capcom keep the same gameplay engine used for Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6, or would they return to the fixed angles gameplay that dominated the first Resident Evils? The current system has drawn the wrath of fans because of its emphasis on action, but most would agree that it is the better control setup. The original control setup was dubbed the "tank" due to ccharacter's slow and awkward movement.
