X-Files blu ray 2013 rumor thread (replaced)

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but the thread about the X Files blu ray rumor from the DigitalBits.com seems to have vanished. Anyways, aside from getting the thread back up, I came across a very interesting bit of information regarding aspect ratio.

As expected with this kind of release, the debates have already begun about how to deal with 4:3 ratio of the first 4 seasons. Normally, I would much prefer the purist way of preserving the original broadcast aspect, and not cropping or overexposing the image. However, someone over at the xfilesnews.com forums posted an interview with cinematographer John Bartley (who shot the first 3 seasons of the show), which sheds some vital light on the situation. It turns out that although they framed the original broadcasts for 4:3, they were projecting for 16:9 during shooting (knowing that this was the future).

In that case, if Bartley's statement is accurate, and they were truly envisioning a widescreen image for every episode, I would be all for a 16:9 blu ray release. In fact, I would be way more excited. Imagine, on top of the improved image and sound quality, getting to watch these iconic episodes in widescreen, and picking out all of the things we never got to see before! Anyways, I may be getting a bit ahead of myself, but I just thought some of you x-philes would appreciate this info.

BARTLEY: I could take a month to answer that question. Things are always changing, and they are also staying the same. We shot The X Files in Super 35 format and framed for 4:3. We protected for 16:9, because we knew it was coming. We also do that on Lost.
