Basically the rule of thumb. If the room you want to put it in has a ton of sunlight from windows than go with LCD otherwise Plasma gives you better PQ.

Just a little more info on the Insignia brand. That's Best Buy's house brand. They're made by LG.

Take a look at last years Panasonics:

I have the Panasonic TH-42PZ77U. I love it. 1080p 42" plasma. Right now you can find it on the web for $1200-$1400. It has an anti-glare coating that some people

A lot of people also love the Panasonic TH-42PZ700U.. It doesn't have the anti-glare coating... some people claim it has a little more "pop" than the PZ77U.... you can actually find it on the web for a little bit less than the PZ77U.

Shipping is the issue usually with TVs on the web.... the TV may only cost $1000 but then you have to pay $200ish in shipping for a large TV.
