Funny enough, I had the same issue with my first set, except it was on The Phantom Menace. I returned mine as I didn't want a dud disc in the future.
Yeah I am going to return it, thanks.

It's quite possible that they aren't accepting returns until they sort something out (which they may well be doing), if HMV say no, ask the manager if they think their position will change in the next few weeks or try contacting FOX.

They better, I'm not one to cause trouble but if they are selling damaged goods they better be prepared to replace them as well.

As a consumer surely I still have the right to return damaged goods?

Well, I've paid for goods that were marked as sent only to find out 10 days later that I assume TNT, are withholding packages because HMV have failed to pay them. Now where do I even begin to try and sort that out.

There's a lot of fu*ked up stuff going on with HMV so denying a replacement wouldn't shock me

Surely under the sale of goods act they are entitled to refund/replace damaged goods? Administration should not effect this at all, this is consumer rights surely?

Quote:
If the company is in administration and goods or services are faulty, the administrator may arrange for the fault to be put right, for example, have the goods repaired or the work remedied or completed. You should contact the administrator to see if this is possible, but cannot insist. If the administrator refuses, you will find it difficult to enforce your rights, as there are unlikely to be sufficient assets to pay compensation. If the company has been sold as a going concern, you will have to negotiate with the new owner, who will take over the company's assets but not its liabilities. You cannot enforce a guarantee or maintenance agreement but the new owner may agree to honour the guarantee or agreement if it appears beneficial to do so.
I'd try and contact FOX and see what they say, they may help you out first. It would also save you the trouble of going to HMV and been upset (I'd be very upset myself) if they can't do anything. I'm just speculating on what HMV's stance is, it may even vary from store to store and you might be perfectly fine.

I'd contact FOX first though, I found 2 numbers for them one is 0171 4377766 the other is 020 74377766. One of those is worth a shot and hopefully you'll get through to the right person!

It'll be the 0207.

0171 is the old London dialling code which was replaced by 020

I know exactly whereabouts in London they are but not very likely to get very far waving a Blu-ray frantically at a receptionist without getting ejected

Address:
20th Century Fox Film Co Ltd, 31-32 Soho Square, Soho, London, W1D 3AP

There's also an online contact form

^Thanks guys i'll try it.

I did a bit of searching last night and apparently HMV arent accepting returns for even damaged or faulty goods according to a few articles, which I find outrageous. If they are willing to sell them damaged/faulty then surely they have a right to replace them.

Well, I have now heard HMV will replace damaged items from the HMV thread, so I will try returning them first. Thanks for you help though.

That's good news, I guess it was only a matter of time before they started replacements after they started accepting gift vouchers.

Slightly Off-Topic but it looks like J.J. Abrams will direct Episode VII.

Jar Jar Abrams is now directing both Trek AND Wars? That's not gonna be at all confusing...!

I believe Abrams can make a good Trek Wars flick, but I do hope they'll follow the trend of the original trilogy and have different director's for each film. Keep it fresh.

No, he hasn't.

I just hope that he doesn't give lens flares to lightsabers, lol!

He DID already say that he wouldn't do it but it looks like he changed his mind...

Is this going to be the Star Trek Wars or the Star Wars Trek?

Think he'll do a good job myself.

^Better than Lucas that's for sure. What also sets this apart from his Star Trek reboot is that he now works with an actually GOOD screenwriter! (As opposed to Hollywood hacks like Kurtzman, Orci and Damon Lindelof lol)

Well he did only do star trek because he, like the rest of us never thought we would live to see another star wars film.

JJ is a Star Wars fan first and foremost

I can see it now

Finally caved and bought this in Sainsburys this morning. The news about VII got me in the right mood. Thought £50 was as good a price I was going to find anywhere. Can't wait to give them a watch
