So now that Veronica Mars is getting a continuation movie I wonder how long it will be until see other fan funded projects based on cancelled television shows.

I posted on her Facebook wall this morning about it. A friend of mine wrote on her wall like a month ago and she actually wrote a really sweet reply.

Maybe she'd be willing to cameo in the film since it was one of her first roles.

And I agree, it has a chance at beating the record but they'll need to come up with some more big rewards. If I remember rightly the biggest earner was a smart watch brand and that gave watches to the high bidders - so you were basically buying a watch. As they could do more watches with more money then it could keep giving out the rewards. Plus Veronica Mars has a finite fanbase.

This will start to flag but, with it looking an almost certainty to get $3m within the first 24 hours, it has a fairly solid chance at beating the record. And even if it doesn't, it can be seen as nothing less than a massive success. At the very least it will be in the top ten Kickstarter earners by the end of its first day.

EDIT - Now it's at $2.2m

Though, if the film turns out to be rubbish, I guess we have to take some of the blame ourselves.

Glad it's getting funded. Donated $275 and am surprised (in a good way) how many people donated higher amounts.

And the money is still coming in!

I say worst case scenario would be that it's just "good." I'll just be happy to see this character again, and I have faith in Rob and Kristen.

Wasn't the biggest prize that speaking part for $10,000?

I think the only other one I'd contribute to hardcore would be a Gilmore Girls movie. Or Wonderfalls but that won't happen I'm sure.

I'll be honest, I only contributed $10 to this one. But I would seriously think about how much I would contribute to an Arrested Development film, depending on the rewards offered.

There's a few I'd contribute to, this is one of them. A few others on my list: 'Chuck', 'Alcatraz', 'Arrested Development', 'Firefly'/'Serenity', 'Freaks and Geeks', 'The X-Files', and in the "there's no way in hell it'll ever happen" category (well, lets be honest, most of these ones fall into that, other than maybe 'The X-Files...) is 'The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.! Man, would I love to see a new film with Bruce Campbell returning to that role.

I have never seen an episode of the show, yet watching the $$$ rise by the hundreds each second is some pretty astonishing stuff.
