It seems like there has been a big decline in the quality of horror films in the last 20 or so years. As a big fan of horror I'm interested in theories as to why they aren't as classic or memorable anymore. What made films like Evil Dead, Halloween, TCM, and Nightmare on Elm Street so influential yet filmmakers nowdays seem to ignore them? In other words, how would you fix the horror genre?
