Maybe a small nitpick, but wouldn't it be better if the thread title actually said Iron Man 3?

Best of the three by far, there is just something special about Shane Black's dialogue

We need a thread title addition. I keep opening this thread thinking it's the poll/review thread.

Could a MOD please designate the two threads accordingly? Thanks!

Preorder is up on Amazon. I preordered it just in case (but hopefully a coupon like the Avengers 3D Combo Pack pops up later).

Why no 3D pre-orders? Is Iron Man 3 still being released in 3D in theaters?

Maybe because it's still early. Amazon should have a 3D pre-order eventually. This probably won't be out till September. Plenty of time for a pre-order to show up.

And it's being shown in 3D near me. Why wouldn't it be shown in 3D?

I was surprised to see that and thought I'd pass that along to anyone on the fence about getting the pre-order.
According to this Vudu Rep's post on the Vudu Forums :

Quote:
Here is what you will receive when you pre-order Iron Man 3 at Wal-Mart.

Immediately upon redemption:
1. Lego Iron Man: Backyard Battle (featurette)
2. Iron Man 3: Extremis (featurette)
3. Iron Man 3: Iron Man and Hulk ? Heroes United (sneak peak)
4. Iron Man 3: Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. (sneak peak)

When the DVD/Blu-ray is released you will receive a digital copy of the movie on Vudu.

There is a separate redemption code that redeems the digital comic and app from Marvel.com.
This is a Disney release, right? So this would potentially be the only place to get a UV copy of the movie as they aren't usually included. I need all these extra special features so I'm going to have to get this. Looks like I will have several copies of this. I've pre-ordered the German Steelbook (well until a 3D Steelbook is available anyhow) and I'm sure other stores will have their own exclusives. I have thoroughly enjoyed every second of the special features from the first two movies. No way I'm missing a second of them for this one.

It will very likely be the only way to get a VUDU copy of the movie- but there is little to no chance it will be UV compliant though (IE if you have family members you are linked to via UV) they won't see this show up on their own VUDU accounts. This is a distinction that will either mean nothing at all to you, or might mean something if that's an aspect of UV you enjoy (it is for me, but not a deal breaker in this case).

As far as mutiple editions, unless the walmart one is actually the coolest I'm sure I'll be double dipping. I like that these preorder deals net me a sealed copy to resell, while still keeping the VUDU feature early and whatever features it comes with online. A little frivolous but I find I can cope with that. I still only end up with one edition, I just try to make it as good as possible (like my Targaryan Game of Thrones S2 with the Walmart and Target bonus discs in place of the DVD copy- it didn't cost me anymore money than a standard copy, just some time). I expect I'll do the same with Iron Man 3. I have IM1 in the red/gold mask case, and IM2 in the silver mask case, so I'm hoping someone somewhere puts out IM3 with an Iron Patriot or one of the other IM mask designs from this movie, to make the trilogy look right on the shelf. And then I'll just have bonus discs to chase down.

Maybe the same day this comes out we will get the trilogy like how the dark knight did. Maybe as well will get a special bonus feature that only that trilogy will have. I hate when they do that to us. I only grabbed the steelbook of the dark knight rises because i had the originals in steel as well All i need to get now is Batman forever and Batman and robin if they decide to put those out in steel.. probably not.

Really? The Hobbit pre-order took several hours to show up in my 'spare' Vudu account but eventually showed up there for everyone to see. I suppose though, I'm more interested for the special features. I have the 2 disc editions (with slips) for both IM and IM2 (plus the Play.com steelbooks and the Phase 1 set, LOL). I will probably do as you have done with GoT and make sure I have the case I want, all the extras and sell the spares. I guess it depends how the specials are incorporated.

The Hobbit was a UV compliant movie so any one using that UV locker account will have the movie show up with any service using UV.
If you look at Iron Man 1 & 2 or even Avengers under Vudu their is no UV tag on them so if you buy them it will only be on that Vudu account.
